R.B. Stevenson Gallery in La Jolla, California USA
I grew up, an only child, in Northern California (Caspar, population 400). I spent my junior year of high school in The Netherlands, and it was there that my interest in drawing and painting first took shape. The ubiquity of great art (two museums devoted to Van Gogh, the best Rembrandts and Vermeers in the world), the rich and strange landscape, and my (initially) infantile language skills in Dutch, all compelled me to immerse myself
in perceptual activity, as well as visual communication.
I received my undergraduate degree from Yale College in 1990 and did graduate study in painting at Stony Brook University, receiving an MFA in 2000. I have taught art in a variety of contexts, including the M.H. de Young Museum, an inner-city high school, and the Richmond Art Center, all in the San Francisco bay area, a boys’ group home in central Mexico, Suffolk Community College and Stony Brook University, on Long Island, and in my current job as assistant professor of drawing and design at Bloomsburg University, in Pennsylvania. My work is available through the R.B. Stevenson Gallery, in La Jolla, the Rodger LaPelle Gallery, in Philadelphia, and at Margeaux Kurtie Fine Art, in Madrid, New Mexico.
