Molly McCracken Kumar was born in Minnesota, MN and grew up in Bend Oregon. She earned a B. A. from Whitman College in 1991 and a M. F. A. from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2001. Her work has been exhibited at R. B. Stevenson Gallery San Diego and La Jolla, also in Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco for the past ten years. The Organic quality of her paintings are influenced by her formative yearsin Oregon where she explored the mountains, rivers and plant life of Oregon. Subsequent inquiry into Eastern philosophies that explore birth, death and rebirth serve to inform herpaintings. Her recent marriage to an Indian-American and a trip to India exposed her to intricate Mendhi patterns and rich textile designs. These Indian motifs inspire her currentforms.
